WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The U.S. Department of Interior officially approved its policy proposal for land managers to regulate e-bikes the same as traditional bikes on non-motorized lands.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Tamika Butler gave fair warning early to the 300-plus attendees of her Virtual Bicycle Leadership Conference address Wednesday morning.

"If you are timid about hearing about blackness and about hearing about race, this probably wasn't the morning session for you," said Butler, an avid cyclist and former executive director of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (BRAIN) — The Safety Stop Law goes into effect for Washington cyclists on Thursday, aimed at making intersections safer.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Nick Martin, who started The Pro's Closet out of a VW bus and grew it into a used bike and component e-commerce giant, will move on from his role as CEO next month.

This is the latest incident involving an officer using a bike as a weapon that has drawn criticism by some in the industry.

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — This week has been action packed in the indoor cycling world, after Echelon stirred things up by announcing a "Peloton Killer" smart bike, called the Prime Bike, that it said it had developed with Amazon and would retail for $500 on that site. That would undercut Peloton's hot-selling bikes that start at more than twice that price.

SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Strava has announced that its Strava Metro data, which compiles anonymous ride data from Strava users for transportation planners, is now free of charge for urban planners, city governments and safe infrastructure advocates. 

Compass, the former owner of Fox Factory and CamelBak, is paying $454 million for BOA.
Compass Diversified will acquire the BOA Fit System.

DENVER (BRAIN) — Compass Diversified announced Tuesday that it will acquire BOA Technology Inc., creators of the BOA Fit System for shoes and other products.
