NEW YORK (BRAIN) — Vista Outdoor says sales in its Action Sports division, which includes Bell, Giro, and Blackburn, were strong in the specialty channel in its Q1, but sales in the mass market channel were soft.

Vandalism is being investigated as a cause for two Lyft e-bikes igniting.

SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Bike-share company Lyft said Friday vandalism has not been ruled out as the cause for two Bay Wheels e-bikes catching fire in the past week and sidelining the entire fleet.

CHICAGO (BRAIN) — Share-bike company Social Bicycles — now known as JUMP and owned by Uber — filed a $75,000 lawsuit against the city of Chicago on Friday, alleging it improperly granted its primary competitor exclusive rights to operate.

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (BRAIN) — A Denver television station is reporting that police may have found the van involved in the hit-and-run collision that left industry veteran Andrew Bernstein in serious condition in the hospital.

MONTREAL (BRAIN) — Dorel Sports revenue was up 7.4% in the second quarter, to $241 million, according to a financial report Friday from Dorel Industries, the company's parent.

Dorel Sports contains the company's bike brands, Cannondale, Schwinn, Caloi, GT, Mongoose and KidTrax.

SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Lyft's share-bike division in the San Francisco Bay Area has removed its e-bikes from service after two caught fire within the past week. The first Bay Wheels e-bike ignited Saturday and the other on Wednesday, when Lyft removed the fleet. The battery appears to be the source. Nobody was injured.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Emerald Expositions Events, Inc., the parent company of the Outdoor Retailer trade shows and the on-hiatus Interbike show, saw revenues increase 31.4% in its second quarter, which ended June 30. Net income was up 93.2%, to $11.4 million for the quarter.

SHANGHAI (BRAIN) — President Donald Trump on Thursday said the U.S. will impose a 10% tariff on Chinese goods worth $300 billion in annual imports. That includes bicycle products not previously subject to new Trump tariffs, including helmets, lights, apparel and shoes.

BEND, Ore. (BRAIN) — The Robert Axle Project, which manufacturers aftermarket thru axles, has purchased Old Man Mountain Products, which makes racks for suspension mountain bikes. The two brands will operate as separate brands, but both will be based in Bend, Oregon.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BRAIN) — A Knoxville lawfirm is investigating a potential class-action lawsuit against companies that sell bike helmets lacking new anti-concussion technology like MIPS. 

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Police have released photos of what they believe is the van whose driver struck industry veteran Andrew Bernstein on July 20 and then fled the scene. Bernstein, who was cycling on the shoulder of a road east of Boulder, was later discovered by a passing motorist.

Sales of bike products increased 7.3% for the first six months.

BRASELTON, Ga. (BRAIN) — Fox Factory Holding Corp. reported that sales in its Specialty Sports Group — its bike-related business — were up 3.1% in the second quarter, which ended June 28. The Specialty Sports Group includes the Fox, Marzocchi, Easton cycling and RaceFace brands.
