Net sales in the bike division were down 0.9 percent in Q1.

OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — Shimano's bike-related sales were down 0.9 percent in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, while operating income in the segment was down 3.2 percent.

EAGLE, Colo. (BRAIN) — Mike Ferrentino has joined Uncommon Communications, a Colorado-based public relations and marketing strategy company. Ferrentino is the former marketing head of Santa Cruz Bicycles and longtime contributing editor for Bike magazine.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (BRAIN) — Ben Serotta will build a custom bike for the highest bidder in an auction to benefit CycleKids, a program that teaches kids to ride bikes along with other life skills.
