SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Greg Shapleigh, who has been connected to the Giro brand since 1990, is stepping down April 14 as vice president and general manager of Vista Outdoor's sport protection division, where he oversaw the Giro, Bollé, Cébé, Bell Helmets, Bell Powersports, Blackburn, Krash, Raskullz and Serengeti brands.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Interbike is unveiling a new program to give retailers cash incentives to write orders at the show. The PayBack buyer rewards program allows retailers to earn cash back for booking at-once orders during the show with participating brands.

MEQUON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Hayes Performance Systems has hired Ryan Birk as Sunringlé BMX brand manager, effective immediately. Birk is returning to Hayes, where he held the same role from 1997 to 2008. For the past 8 years, Birk has been vice president of Answer BMX.

TRYSIL, Norway (BRAIN) — Sweet Protection, the Norwegian maker of helmets, protective gear and technical clothing for the ski, whitewater and mountain bike markets, has named Mike Erwin as its new sales manager for North America.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The Sustainable Trails Coalition is applauding legislation introduced last week that would end a ban on bikes, wheelchairs, strollers and game carts in federally designated Wilderness areas. The bill, introduced by Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., would let federal land managers regulate the use of such vehicles on Wilderness trails.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (BRAIN) — The North American Handmade Bicycle Show will donate $1 from the sale of each admission ticket at next week's show to the Trips For Kids Initiative.

Since 1988, Trips For Kids has helped disadvantaged kids discover the joy of mountain biking.
