PETALUMA, Calif (BRAIN) —  CamelBak's longtime CEO Sally McCoy is stepping down after nine years in her role. Layne Rigney, currently the brand's senior vice president of global sales, will take over as president on Feb. 1, the company announced Tuesday.

DETROIT (BRAIN) — Shinola, known for its Detroit-built watches, bicycles and leather goods, has brought its retail store count to 12 with the recent opening of two locations in Miami and Portland, Oregon.

LEADVILLE, Colo. (BRAIN) — Mavic will provide neutral support to racers at this year's Leadville 100 mountain bike race, as well as at two other races in the Leadville Trail MTB series.

TEMECULA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Intense Cycles has hired Drew Engelmann in the newly created role of national sales manager. The new position was necessitated by the growth of Intense's U.S. dealer base over the past 18 months and corresponds with the addition of more outside territory reps, the company said.

St. LAURENT, Quebec (BRAIN) — High-end custom bike brand Guru Cycles Inc. has filed for bankruptcy in Montreal, listing liabilities of CA$1.1 million ($789,000).

Meanwhile, Crested Butte, Colorado, will hold an un-official fat bike world championships.

OGDEN, Utah (BRAIN) — USA Cycling will hold its second-ever national championships for fat biking later on Feb. 27 in this town north of Salt Lake City. Ogden hosted the first national championships for the fast-growing activity last year.

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — A federal court in Wisconsin has ordered Split Pivot Inc. to pay Trek Bicycle $40,000 in legal costs following Split Pivot's failed patent infringement case against Trek. Trek had sought $318,000 in legal costs.

CALABASAS, Calif. (BRAIN) — Ride 2 Recovery will be involved with several road and mountain bike events in 2016 to provide its riders with a first step into the world of competitive cycling.

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Saris Cycling Group this year is creating consumer advocate programs for each of its brands, Saris, CycleOps and PowerTap. The program involves local bike shops, with consumer applicants to the program being asked to provide a bike shop as a reference.

Trek actually began online bikes sales in December.
LONGMONT, Colo. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle's announcement in August that it would soon begin online sales of bikes was the biggest story in the bike industry in 2015, generating more pageviews than any other article on BicycleRetailer.com.
