Doppelt Fund grants are designed to fill financial gaps.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has awarded over $100,000 in grants through its Doppelt Family Trail Development Fund, which supports small, regional projects that are vital to trail systems but often fall through the cracks of traditional funding streams.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Cycling Sports Group has appointed Jason Brown as the director of North America sales for Sugoi and Dennis Kim as the director of marketing for Sugoi. Both will report to Ian Domaas, Sugoi's vice president and general manager.

GUNNISON, Colo. (BRAIN) — The Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association is using a mobile app to promote its vast trail network and encourage mountain bikers to try out all 750 miles of trails in the area.

OMAHA, Neb. (BRAIN) — Sean Weide, a longtime press officer and communications manager for pro road racing teams, died unexpectedly on Tuesday. He was 49.

PARK CITY, Utah (BRAIN) — Canyon Bicycles has decided to pull out of next month's Bike PressCamp, saying it's too busy to participate this year. 

Organizers of the PressCamp noted that several new brands — including Campagnolo, Zipp and Pivot — have recently decided to attend the event, however.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — PeopleForBikes says President Trump's 2018 proposed budget is not good for bicycling. The group said the budget proposes to cut overall funding for the Department of the Interior by 5.3 percent and the Department of Transportation by 16 percent.
