Steve Frothingham

Steve is in his second stint at BRAIN. He was here at the beginning in 1992 while still working for a bike shop in Santa Fe, N.M. He wrote several articles for BRAIN's first issue and later joined the staff, eventually becoming managing editor and then executive editor.

After leaving BRAIN in 1997 he worked for several news organizations including The Associated Press and VeloNews before rejoining BRAIN as web editor in 2011.

He is based in Longmont, Colorado, and is an enthusiastic (and slow) road, mountain bike and cyclocross rider.

Stalking horse bidder has stepped aside as Niner requests a delay to negotiate with new bidder

DENVER (BRAIN) — Niner has asked its stalking horse bidder — an investment group that had planned to purchase the company's assets on Wednesday — to step back as it negotiates with another potential buyer with a higher offer, company co-founder and president Chris Sugai told BRAIN Tuesday.

DENVER (BRAIN) — If all goes to plan, a Colorado investor group will acquire Niner, Inc.'s assets and bring the company out of bankruptcy before the end of the month

But first, other potential buyers will be given a chance to bid for the company at an auction next Thursday.
