SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — TSG Consumer Partners LLC, a strategic equity investor, has acquired the online outdoor sports retailer Backcountry.com, including its CompetiveCyclist.com division, from Liberty Interactive Corporation.

MONTREAL (BRAIN) — Assos ProShops are popping up all over.

The Swiss clothing brand has worked with retailers to open three new shops-within-a-shop in North America in recent weeks.

There are now 23 ProShops around the world, with seven more planned for this year.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (BRAIN) – The final Profitability Project meeting facilitated by the Mann Group took place last week in Calgary. The National Bicycle Dealers Association will take over the administration of its retail program going forward.

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (BRAIN) — Longtime retailer Sammy Radi, who owns Sammy's Bikes in St. Charles, Ill., has opened Giant Fox Valley, a store dedicated solely to the Giant and Liv brands. The 2,400 square-foot shop is located across the street from Sammy's Bikes.

COSTA MESA, Calif. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association's longtime executive director Fred Clements will be stepping down in the next few months to take a project director's role within the organization. The organization announced it has begun a search for a new executive director.

TRUCKEE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Start Haus, a Lake Tahoe-area ski retailer, has added a 1,000-square-foot Giant Partner Store to its Truckee, Calif., shop.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (BRAIN) — Kona Bicycles has soft-opened its retail shop in the company's hometown of Bellingham, Wash., and has set a grand opening for the 6,600-square-foot location the weekend of June 20-21.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., (BRAIN) — Performance Bicycle raised $13,448 for PeopleForBikes during May, National Bike Month. The total is a mix of donations directly from customers and Performance Bicycle matching funds.
