BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — As of Jan. 1, Full Cycle Bikes, one of Boulder's oldest bike shops, has changed hands. Russ Chandler and business partners Ed Kuh and Adam Brodnicki bought the business from Kaj and Karli Gronholm, who owned it for 10 years.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (BRAIN) — Quality Bicycle Products has announced it will offer its Service Summit again, this time for central region retailers at its Bloomington, Minnesota, headquarters and distribution center.

Mobile repair service signs up 20 franchises throughout the Western US.

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (BRAIN) — Mobile repair service Beeline Bikes has opened its first two franchises and has signed a total of 20 franchises to date in markets including Denver and Boulder, Colorado; Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona; Los Angeles; the San Francisco Bay Area; and Northern California's Napa Valley.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (BRAIN) — Sixteen female bike mechanics received some good news this week, learning that they were recipients of the third annual Women's Bicycle Mechanic Scholarship, a program title-sponsored by QBP, SRAM, RockShox, Park Tool and the United Bicycle Institute (UBI).

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (BRAIN)  — Selected from thousands of employers in Southern California’s Inland Empire region, online and brick-and-mortar retailer Jenson USA was named a “Top Workplace” by daily newspaper the Riverside Press-Enterprise in a special business section published Dec. 11. 

NEW YORK — Retailer Paul Levine, owner of three Signature Cycles locations, has announced that he will close his 900-square-foot Manhattan studio on Dec. 31. Levine moved the store from its original Upper West Side location to SoHo last year when the building sold and his lease expired.

DECATUR, Ga. (BRAIN) — Fred Boykin, founder and owner of Bicycle South outside of Atlanta, has announced that he is selling his shop to manager Brian Dunne and will retire at the end of the year.

NILES, Ill. (BRAIN) — Joe Reichert, owner of Amling’s Cycle Shop and a longtime proponent of recumbents and trikes, suffered a brain aneurysm in mid-November. Reichert was in a coma for two weeks following the aneurysm and remains in the hospital on what is expected to be a long and difficult road to recovery.

ORANGE, Calif. (BRAIN) — A memorial service is being planned for Friday for John Pavlisin, Sr., the owner of Orange Cycle, who died on Veterans Day. He was 89 and died from the complications of pneumonia.

Employees plan to donate their pay to a local charity.

EASTON, Pa. (BRAIN) — Genesis Bicycles will close its store on Black Friday, and the shop's employees have decided to donate their salaries for the day to a local charity.

Store owner Tomias Hinchcliff concedes it's a risky move to close his shop on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — Time tables and a detailed itinerary went out the window Wednesday on Day 2 of Bicycle Retailer’s Dealer Tour Los Angeles as the group of editors and sponsors made the 37-mile journey from the coast at Marina Del Rey and headed across the City of Angels to its ultimate destination in Pasadena.
