VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Vancouver bike retailer Paul Dragan is in the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to news reports, after being shot Tuesday at a Starbucks across the street from one of his stores.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Scott USA is recalling about 2,000 road bikes in the U.S. — 2014 Speedster 30 and 40 and Contessa Speedster 25 and 35 models — because of concerns over possible steerer tube breakages.

The company has received one report of a broken steerer. The incident did not result in injury.

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Carbon fiber frame repair business Ruckus Composites will be raffling some leftover repaired frames to benefit charities.

The company said it often has a "dead pile" of broken frames that are dropped off and never picked up by their owners.
