Retül works with snow sports brand to offer custom cycling insoles

Published November 14, 2014

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Retül is working with Masterfit Enterprises, a designer and manufacturer of insoles for the snow sports industry, to offer cycling specific custom insoles.

The newly released Fütbeds insoles are designed to help maximize a rider's comfort and performance on the bike by providing arch support and supplementing foot and knee alignment. The custom insoles are molded on-site for a rider in less than 30 minutes, based on a foot assessment and protocol developed by Masterfit. The protocol is designed to be complementary to a Retül bike fit or as a stand-alone offering.

"We believe that a bike fit is not complete without proper foot support, and for the last couple of years we have been working on finding the right insole product and refining the protocol," said Todd Carver, chief fit and education officer at Retül. "We started working with Masterfit's QuikBeds product in our Retül University courses and were really impressed with their performance."

After initial testing of the insoles with the riders of Garmin-Sharp and a select group of Boulder-based cyclists and triathletes, Retül gathered feedback that was incorporated into the final Fütbeds product. This month Retül will take that final product to the training camp for Pro Continental team Colombia Cycling, where Carver and Retül University instructor Rene Munoz will mold Fütbeds for the riders.

Carver and Egeland will provide training for fitters who are offering the Fütbed service. A group of 25 bike fitters who use the Retül motion capture bike fit technology will be the first to offer the Fütbed service. Through these retailers, Fütbeds will be available to consumers by the end of the year.
