BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Jeff Wilbur has left CatEye America after 12 years with the company. "The timing was right for separation, as I understand the challenges midsize, dealer-direct models face when it comes to their marketing needs," Wilbur said.

LA MESA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Brian Baylis, one of the giants of U.S. custom steel framemaking, died Saturday at age 63 of complications from pneumonia. 

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Zen Bicycle Fabrication has discontinued operations and is in the process of vacating its premises. The company is working to find production capacity at other builders for its current customers, but it will not be getting back into production framebuilding itself.

OGDEN, Utah (BRAIN) — Amer Sports Corp., the owner of Mavic and several other outdoor brands, has bought Utah's Enve Composites for $50 million. 

Enve makes carbon rims, wheels and components and has annual sales of about $30 million.

20Collective says a 'Got Milk" for cycling could boost participation — and sales at all levels of the industry.

KENT, Wash. (BRAIN) — Accell North America has hired former Raleigh sales rep Mike Larson as territory manager for Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.

But advocacy group reaffirms that it will not support amending the Wilderness Act as a means for expanding mountain bike access.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — The International Mountain Bicycling Association will pursue “a more assertive stance” on the designation of public lands as federally protected Wilderness areas that don’t allow bikes, it announced Thursday, but will not back any effort to amend the Wilderness Act of 1964 to expand trail access, as proposed by fellow advocacy group the Sustainable Trails Coalition.

OGDEN, Utah (BRAIN) — Suunto has hired Bryson White as brand manager for the Americas and Jason Tillinghast as commercial category manager for North America.  

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — Eddy Merckx Cycles has announced that it will be the bike supplier for the Lupus Racing Team,  a UCI Continental men’s team led by 2013 Vuelta a España champion Chris Horner. The team’s 15 members will ride Merckx’s San Remo 76.

YARMOUTH, Maine (BRAIN) — Garmin Ltd. has agreed to buy DeLorme, a privately-held, Maine-based company that designs and markets consumer GPS tracking devices with two-way communication and navigational capabilities.

STOCKHOLM (BRAIN) — Thule Group notched a 5.1 percent sales increase in 2015 in currency-neutral figures. The Stockholm-based company recorded sales of 5.3 million Swedish Kronas ($623 million) for the year, capped by a 3 percent sales increase in the final quarter.
