NEW YORK (BRAIN) — Uber's upcoming IPO will likely start out with shares being offered at $44 to $50, which would raise $8 billion to $10 billion and value the ride-hailing company at $80 billion to $90 billion, according a report by Bloomberg.

Wholesale bike unit sales down 20% in the first quarter.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Wholesale bike sales overall were nearly flat in March compared to last year in dollars, and down slightly in units. The month's results capped a first quarter that saw a 20 percent decline in bike units sold in to retailers, according to the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association's Sell-in Report.

OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — High-end bike sales in North America and e-bike sales in Europe helped drive sales increase. Losses from a March 2018 factory fire remain significant, however.

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — MirraCo, the BMX brand founded by Dave Mirra, is for sale or license. Mirra founded the brand in 2006 with partner Jim Ford. It has been licensed in the past to Trek Bicycle, BMX International Australia and Dynacraft. Currently, Haro holds a nonexclusive license that expires in November.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Some hubs and sprockets would be among the $11.5 billion in goods subject to retaliatory tariffs of up to 100% proposed by the Trump administration.

(BRAIN) — While the rest of the industry battles over market share in the enthusiast market, Midway Bicycle Supply is finding growth providing parts and accessories to nonprofit shops and other programs that serve consumers in need of lower-priced bikes. Those operations, as well as some mobile service and service-only shops, often can’t establish accounts with larger distributors.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Cycling advocates are casting a wary eye on bills pending in several statehouses that seek to legalize electric scooters. Their concerns aren't with e-scooters as such, but with the scooter industry's attempts to classify them as legally identical to bikes or electric bikes.

MISSOULA, Mont. (BRAIN) — Adventure Cycling Association announced Tuesday that Jim Sayer will step down as executive director by the end of 2019, after 15 years at the helm. Sayer will stay on as the organization’s leader until a successor is found. The search for a new leader will formally launch in May.

MONTEREY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Tire maker Challenge is holding a roundtable event Thursday during the Sea Otter Classic to discuss development in the ISO and ETRTO rim and tire standards. 

DURHAM, N.C. (BRAIN) — A committee of unsecured debtors — whose members include a long list of bicycle suppliers owed millions by the bankrupt former owner of Performance Bicycle and ASI — is suing some of the companies that hold preferential positions in a bid to increase the amount of debt they are ultimately able to recover.
