SANTA FE, N.M. (BRAIN) — Bicycle Technologies International plans to open its second distribution center in Reno-Sparks, Nevada, this spring.
BTI said the new location will provide the distributor with overnight ground shipping to shops in seven Western states: California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Dealers will receive orders up to two days faster than BTI’s current ground delivery out of New Mexico. And West Coast shops will see more affordable rates for heavier, bulkier items such as car racks and wheels.
The company has named industry veteran Anthony Kordonowy manager of the new Reno-Sparks facility. Kordonowy’s experience includes a decade wrenching and managing in bike shops, and more recently acting as both a brand manager and U.S. after-sales service manager for Hawley. A Reno resident, Kordonowy is involved in the local cycling scene and volunteer advocacy in the area.
“BTI was wise to have chosen Reno, the sweet spot for overnight delivery,” Kordonowy said. "Between the two distribution centers, BTI will be able to extend one-day ground shipping coverage to every major urban center in the West. This is especially important to shops that depend upon BTI’s unmatched service parts selection.”
The Reno-Sparks warehouse will initially stock items ordered at a higher frequency for the region. Since the company expects strong growth in the West, the breadth and depth of the product selection will rapidly evolve based on sales trends. Order cutoff times will be competitive with established suppliers in the region, BTI stated.
“Keeping the local bike shop relevant matters to us,” BTI president Preston Martin said. “With one-day delivery from BTI, dealers don’t have to lose sales to large online retailers, nor do they need to pay for expensive air shipping to get customers back in the saddle faster.”
