SAN RAFAEL, CA (BRAIN)—Trips for Kids (TFK) has hired a new executive director for North America, Eric Goldman. He will oversee the Trips For Kids — North America organization.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Salsa Cycles—a subsidiary of distributor Quality Bicycle Products—issued a voluntary recall of about 6,500 Salsa handlebar stems.
The handlebar stems can crack or break, posing a fall hazard to the rider.
NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN)—Industry veteran Russ Okawa died in his sleep Monday night. He had been staying with his sister in Simi Valley, recovering from open heart surgery on December 22. He was 59 years old.

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN)—Trek Bicycles has hired Matt Shriver as its team liaison for Team RadioShack.
Shriver, who led Colorado's Fort Lewis College to three national championships, stepped down as FLC’s cycling coach to take the position.
MADISON, WI (BRAIN)—Saris Cycling Group (SCG) has hired Steve Chapin as its new director of marketing.
In the role, Chapin will lead the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives for the Saris Rack and CycleOps Power brands, according to a press release.
SEVILLE, Spain (BRAIN)—The city of Seville, Spain has been selected by the European Cyclist Federation (ECF) to host the 2011 edition of Velo-City.
