ERMUA, Spain (BRAIN) — Orbea, the Basque co-op bike manufacturer, had its sixth consecutive record sales year in 2021, hitting 282 million euros ($298 million). The co-op added 170 news jobs in the year, bringing its total workforce to nearly 1,000, with 90% of its workers in Europe.

Bike-related sales notch 8th consecutive record quarter

DULUTH, Ga. (BRAIN) — Fox Factory’s CEO says the mountain bike industry will return to something like normal in the fourth quarter this year and he expects Fox’s bike-product sales to return to a more traditional growth rate following several years of very high growth.

CHICAGO (BRAIN) — Registration and recovery nonprofit Bike Index surpassed 800,000 registrants and recovered more than 10,500 stolen bikes as of Friday.

Entering its ninth year, Bike Index, with a staff of five and a volunteer ambassador program, has recovered bikes worth an estimated $18.3 million.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Shimano Inc. has sold off its apparel brand, Pearl Izumi, to United Sports Brands, the parent of Nathan, Cutters, and Shock Doctor, among other brands. 

Pearl Izumi will join Nathan, which offers running accessories and apparel, in USB's new outdoor division.
