PETALUMA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Australian consumer-direct retailer Bicycles Online has entered the North American market with an exclusive partnership with Polygon Bikes.

Bicycles Online's U.S. website, BikesOnline.com is based in Sonoma County in California and with a warehouse in Los Angeles. It will carry all Polygon models, in addition to accessories and clothing from Entity and DHaRCO.

Previously sold in North America only through its website, Polygon Bikes now will be available exclusively on BikesOnline.com. “This now creates a consistent customer experience for U.S. customers purchasing Polygon bikes,” said BikesOnline.com managing director Jonathon Allara.

He said the California location will provide faster delivery and local pre- and post-sale customer service.

Like Bicycles Online, BikesOnline.com offers a free two-week test ride on all bikes and free shipping to the lower 48 states with a minimum $50 purchase.

BikesOnline.com has been interested in selling the Polygon brand in the North American market for several years, said Allara, who said the distribution agreement was first presented about 18 months ago and solidified in the past year.

Bicycles Online has sold Polygon Bikes for eight years “in one of the most difficult bicycle retail markets globally — Australia,” Allara said. “Over 300 brands are sold in Australia, including most of the European, American and Asian brands. This has created a very price-competitive market.”

BikesOnline provides bike specs’, comparisons, customer and media reviews and product videos. “All of our bikes require only minimal assembly as they are pre-tuned by our mechanics before being shipped in our custom, heavy-duty bike box to your door,” Allara said.

Polygon owns a manufacturing facility in Indonesia, producing bikes not just for the Polygon brand, but also for other U.S. and European brands.

“Polygon has had strong ties with the USA for many years, with many of our pro riders and bike designers being based there,” said Polygon Bikes sales director William Gozali in a news release. “For several years, we have been working together with the team from Bicycles Online in Australia to grow the Polygon brand and market share. We believe that with their extensive bike knowledge combined with after-sales support, fast warranty support and local knowledge provides an ideal partner for the brand.”
