R&A Cycles acquires Northern California's Zealot Cycleworks

Published April 12, 2021

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (BRAIN) — R&A Cycles acquired Zealot Cycleworks and closed Zealot's San Ramon, California, storefront on April 7.

All Zealot Cycleworks' bike and service orders are now fulfilled through R&A Cycles' Walnut Creek location. R&A Cycles — with a second location in Brooklyn, New York — has taken on several of Zealot Cycleworks' brands and staff, including founder Tai Williams and operations head Dimas Pino. Both will join R&A Cycles in leadership roles, according to an R&A news release.

"This move is not about acquiring their business; it's about acquiring the best people we can," said Albert Cabbad, R&A Cycles CEO. "We're still building our presence and our staff in (Northern California). Tai and Dimas could not have been more highly recommended within the industry. We're thrilled to have them aboard."

R&A Cycles opened the Walnut Creek location in February 2020 and experienced e-commerce and brick-and-mortar growth from the recent bike boom. Cabbad said the Brooklyn location and warehouse are "somewhat understaffed," with hiring continuing there and in Walnut Creek.
