BRAIN Dealer Tour arrives in Kansas for week of retail visits

Published May 22, 2018

OLATHE, Kan. (BRAIN) – BRAIN editors toured Garmin's U.S. headquarters, factory and warehouse in northeastern Kansas on Monday and got to mingle with members of the Garmin-sponsored EF Education First - Drapac P/B Cannondale team on the heels of last week's Tour of California. The team led a ride out with some 200 local cyclists to cap off the day.

Garmin, which is headquartered here, is sponsoring this week's tour of Kansas City bike shops kicking off Tuesday. Co-sponsoring the tour are also Chamois Butt'r and Salsa Cycles, which provided a fleet of gravel bikes for tour participants.

BRAIN editors will visit shops by bike in Kansas City, Missouri; and Overland Park, Lenexa and Lawrence, Kansas, over the next three days and interview shop staff and owners about their businesses. Short recaps will be posted daily online and extensive coverage of the Kansas City market will be featured in the magazine's upcoming June 15 issue.

This is only the third Dealer Tour in the Midwest. Previously, Bicycle Retailer has visited Chicago and the Twin Cities as part of its Dealer Tour program, now in its 11th year.

This week's itinerary includes visits to Midwest Cyclery, Revolve KC Community Bike Shop, Family Bicycles, Erik's Bike & Board, Velo Garage & Tap House, Velo+, Turner's Cycling & Fitness, Bike America, Elite Cycling, Frontier Bikes and Sunflower Outdoor and Bike Shop.

Readers can follow along on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #braindealertour.
