Canadian retailer, FGL Sports, recalling bike and skateboard helmets

Published July 30, 2014

CALGARY, Alberta (BRAIN) — The Canadian sports retail chain FGL Sports is recalling the Capix Evo and Capix Jr Evo Bike and Skateboard Helmets, which were sold exclusively through FGL Sports-owned retail stores between January and June this year.

The company said it has learned that a manufacturing defect may cause cracks to appear near the rivets securing the helmet's chinstrap, posing a potential safety hazard to users.

The company is asking consumers to stop using the Capix Evo and Capix Jr Evo Bike and Skateboard Helmets immediately and return them to any Sport Chek, Sports Experts, Intersport or S3 store for a refund or an exchange.

According to a notice on the Sport Chek website, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
