LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — Wahoo Fitness has released its first GPS-enabled bike computer, the ELEMNT. The company announced the new product on the opening day of Interbike here.
"Using a bike computer shouldn't be the hardest part of your ride," said Chip Hawkins, CEO of Wahoo Fitness. "We saw a need for a well-designed GPS-enabled cycling computer that simplified the riding experience rather than complicated it. We solved that need with the ELEMNT."
The ELEMNT has ANT+, Bluetooth Smart, and Wi-Fi connectivity that allows riders to view key ride metrics, navigate a route, track fellow riders' locations in real-time as well as receive en-route calls, texts and email notifications.
The ELEMNT's QuickLook LED indicators provide visual indicators for critical alerts and data. Fully programmable, the indicators can be set to display metrics such as speed, heart rate, power, turn-by-turn navigation cues and more.
The device can be set up and personalized via a mobile phone app.
It also integrates with third-party platforms like Strava and RideWithGPS and date can be wireless uploaded to platforms like Strava, MapMyRide, RideWithGPS, and Training Peaks via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The ELEMNT also offers riders the ability to control the Wahoo KICKR indoor training directly from their handlebars, without a computer, tablet or smartphone.
It will retail for $329 and be available later this year.
