BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Stuart Walsworth, husband of PeopleForBikes' president and CEO, Jenn Dice, died following a mountain bike ride Aug. 1 in Colorado.

Walsworth, who was 58, died on Monarch Pass. An obituary said he had undiagnosed atherosclerotic heart disease.

He was an avid cyclist and skier, completing the Leadville 100 MTB race nine times, as well as a variety of other mountain bike and running events. He met Jenn Dice in the 2008 Leadville 100 registration line. The pair went on to dozens of adventurous mountain bike trips including mountain biking down Mount Kilimanjaro twice and competing in a three-day mountain bike stage race around a glacier in Iceland.

“Eighteen years together, Stuart and Jenn were not slowing down and were full of plans for their next chapter in life in Colorado and Arkansas and spending more meaningful time with friends and family,” the obituary read.

The PeopleForBikes family shared their thoughts with BRAIN.

An Le, chairman of the organization’s  board of directors and global marketing director for Giant Bicycles, said, “On behalf of the PeopleForBikes Board of Directors, we extend our deepest condolences to Jenn and her family. Jenn has led our organization with unmatched energy, passion, and heart, qualities that reflect the life she built with Stuart. We are united in our support for Jenn and grateful for the outpouring of love from across the bike industry."

José Maldonado, the organization’s chief marketing officer, said,"We are heartbroken by the sudden and tragic passing of Jenn Dice’s husband, Stuart. Stuart was a kind and generous soul who shared Jenn’s deep love for bikes and the people who ride them. The team at PeopleForBikes is holding Jenn and her family close during this incredibly difficult time and doing everything we can to support her. Jenn has given so much to our industry, now it’s our turn to show up for her."

Walsworth was the owner of Walsworth Sales, a business founded by his father. He acted as a manufacturer's representative for Amphenol, an electronics supplier.
