MOAB, Utah (BRAIN) — As Outerbike's fall event in Moab gets underway on Friday, organizers have announced that they will hold an event next summer in Crested Butte, Colorado.
The Crested Butte Outerbike will be held August 18-20 and will be produced in partnership with the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Outerbike's owner, Western Spirit Cycling, also will hold an event in Moab March 31-April 2 next year, and a fall event in Moab, October 6-8, 2017.
"Outerbike is focused on only one thing: providing world class demo opportunities for riders. Our goal is to give consumers the opportunity to connect with bike designers and manufacturers directly. Regardless of what sales channel they choose, we know that riding a bike on a real trail inspires everybody," said Ashley Korenblat, CEO at Western Spirit.
This weekend's Moab event has more than 60 exhibitors and has attracted 1,000 registered riders from 47 states and seven foreign countries.
The Crested Butte event will make use of the resort's developing Evolution Bike Park.
"Crested Butte has always been high on the bucket list for hardcore riders but now with the Evolution Bike Park it's got something for everyone. There are the classic Crested Butte rides plus fun new trails for everyone right out of the base area, along with some of the most incredible views of Paradise Divide and the West Elks," said Mark Sevenoff, Western Spirit's owner.
John Norton, executive director of the Gunnison Crested Butte Tourism Association, said, "We are committing a large chunk of our cycling marketing budget to get the word out about Crested Butte Outerbike.
Western Spirit has begun planning for 2018 and is considering additional events on the East Coast and in Europe. Outerbike held an event in Whistler, British Columbia, in 2015 and 2016, but a Whistler event is not on its 2017 calendar.
