PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Children's bike brand Islabikes has donated 14 bikes to the Community Cycling Center in Portland, Oregon.

"Islabikes' belief in providing children with a quality cycling experience and introduction to biking coincides with the Community Cycling Center's mission," Islabikes stated in a release.

"The Community Cycling Center is a nonprofit organization that is determined to grow the bicycle movement by showing kids how to fix their own bikes and get them exploring their neighborhoods, getting to know their neighbors, and learning the history of their surroundings. Once the organization has a fleet of quality bikes, they are able to take kids on rides, adventures and bike camps that may have been out of reach otherwise.

"The mission is to create new cyclists and bike commuters by broadening access to cycling and its benefits," the company added. "Getting kids outdoors by choosing a healthy and active lifestyle, biking becomes a tool of empowerment. By creating a vibrant environment, the community becomes more connected regardless of income, education or background."
