OGDEN, Utah (BRAIN) — Selle Royal North America is the latest bike industry company to set up shop in this community north of Salt Lake City.
Utah’s Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced last week that Selle Royal will open a facility in Ogden that will generate 65 jobs in the next seven years.
Selle Royal Group owns the Fizik, Brooks and Crankbrothers brands.
“Our group is made of product-driven brands,” said Gaspare Licata, the general manager of Selle Royal North America. “We have the ambition with this investment to be able to develop the greatest products in the bicycle industry. The state of Utah, and Ogden in particular, is becoming a great area for outdoor industry, and we think we can attract great talent here. We thank the city of Ogden for being such a committed partner to build this important pillar for the growth of our group.”
Licata told BRAIN that his company will announce specifics about the new facility next week.
According to the development office, the project is expected to generate up to $4 million in capital investment.
Selle Royal may earn a tax credit of up to 20 percent of the new state taxes they will pay over the next seven years. That credit is capped at $272,103. Each year as Selle Royal group meets the criteria in its contract with the state, it will earn a portion of the total tax credit rebate.
Selle Royal Group has more than 1,000 employees worldwide and facilities in Pozzoleone, Italy; Birmingham, U.K.; Taiwan; Illinois; and China.
Other bike brands with facilities in Ogden include QBP, Volagi, TRP, Enve, Mavic, Mercury Wheels and Scott Sports.
