LONGMONT, Colo. (BRAIN) — Craft brewer Oskar Blues has added an extensive bike terrain park to its Colorado hops and cattle farm, and recently hosted an invitational jumping event at the new venue.
Oskar Blues is one of the fastest-growing craft brewers in the country, and has long had strong ties to the bicycle community. It offers its own, made-in-house bike brand, Reeb, has a bike-themed restaurant/bike shop in Longmont, and operates a mountain biking ranch in Brevard, North Carolina.
The brewer has operated the Oskar Blues Hops & Heifers Farm in Longmont for several years, raising grass-fed cattle that provide some of the beef used at its restaurants. The farm also grows hops and supplements animal feed with spent grain from the brewing process.
The company recently hired Alpine Bike Parks to build a terrain park at the ranch, with a pump track, flow course and slopestyle courses. The park hosted the "Hops & Huckers Blue Groove Invitational" on Halloween, with more than 50 invited riders. The previous weekend, the ranch hosted a cyclocross race that encircled the terrain park.
Other than special events, the Colorado park and farm remains private. The brewery said it will announce a public access plan for the bike park next spring.
