Next year's IBD Summit returns to The Buttes, a few weeks earlier

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Next year’s IBD Summit will return to the Marriott Tempe at The Buttes in Phoenix, January 12-14, organizers announced Thursday. The fifth annual event is presented by Interbike, PeopleForBikes, the NBDA, and the BPSA.

Organizers said next year’s dates are earlier than usual (this year’s event was Jan 27-29) to avoid conflicts with other events.

Close to 250 people, including almost 100 retailers, attended the 2015 event. Their thoughts and ideas were later consolidated into the recently published “Manifesto for Change.”

“We’re looking forward to furthering the conversations started at the 2015 IBD Summit, and continuing to refine the 12 Tenets (of the manifesto),” said Pat Hus, the vice president of Interbike.

“This year was just the beginning of something we feel is incredibly important work. The foundations for change were laid at the 2015 Summit but we will be going much deeper into solutions at Interbike and at next year’s Summit in an effort to drive progress. At the 2016 event, our intent will be to include more breakout group discussions and more panel presentations that address our industry’s challenges.”

For 2016, organizers plan to expand the Mann U offerings that were provided this year, but will work schedule them so attendees can attend group sessions along with Mann U sessions.

Tentative plans also include expanded ride offerings for both mountain and road bikes.

Registration is scheduled to open by June 1 and preliminary content for the event will be announced by mid-summer. More information at theibdsummit.com.
