BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Frank Hugelmeyer has resigned as president and CEO of the Outdoor Industry Association, effective Oct. 3, the organization's board announced Tuesday.
"We feel fortunate for Frank's leadership of OIA for so many years through dynamic industry change and evolution," said Jennifer Mull, OIA's board chair, on behalf of OIA's board. "He has been instrumental in the overall growth of our organization, including forging many industry and non-industry relationships and establishing our vital influence in Washington, D.C. Frank's vision, drive and passion have made an indelible impact on OIA and the industry."
The OIA board will identify an interim executive director while a search committee and a national search firm will identify a permanent candidate.
Hugelmeyer called his time at OIA "the adventure of a lifetime. "With a superior board and a strong and talented team in place, I leave OIA in very capable hands and in a condition that few dreamed possible when it was founded," he said in a statement distributed by OIA.
In an email sent to friends and colleagues, Hugelmeyer said, "In every organization, I believe there is an appropriate lifespan for the tenure of any CEO. Therefore, it is time for me to move on and do what I do best, build and grow another organization into an enterprise that matters."
