MARINA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Monterey Week — the Bicycle Leadership Conference, Interbike IBD Summit and Sea Otter — afforded us opportunity to drop in on Light & Motion in the company’s new, expanded location in Marina, Calif., north of its former home on Monterey’s historic Cannery Row. A few highlights:

Light & Motion expanded from about 16,000 crowded square feet among three floors on Cannery Row to 30,000 in this one-time U.S. Air Force hangar in Marina, Calif., that serviced Apache helicopters as part of the now-decommissioned Fort Ord base. -
Designer Roxy Lo draws inspiration from inside and outside the bike industry, including her fashion experience (left). At right are preliminary concept sketches, with realized products on her desk. -
A sphere for testing lumen output not only gauges the performance of Light & Motion’s products, but also tests competitors’ claims. -
