LANDRUM, S.C. (BRAIN) — Boyd Cycling unveiled its new Sixtus MTB hub for gravity riders this week, featuring what it calls instant engagement and low-drag performance.
The Sixtus Hub replaces the company's Tripel hub, pushing engagement technology even further, according to Boyd Cycling. The new hubs will be featured on new and refreshed wheelsets throughout the rest of year, including the Kanuga FF and Ridgeline Carbon Enduro wheelsets.
The hub features a 0.5-degree engagement system that has 612 points of engagement. According to Boyd Cycling, the Sixtus was engineered "to stay fast when you're off the gas."
Like its predecessor, the new Sixtus uses a 102-tooth driver ring paired with six pawls. A new steel phasing ring surrounds the pawls, staggering pawl engagement instead of forcing all the pawls to engage at once. The steel phasing ring increases durability and load distribution, according to Boyd Cycling, and the hubs are e-bike rated.
The Sixtus front hub is 15x110 Boost that converts to 20x110 DH spacing with an end cap swap. Built around modern mountain bike standards, the Sixtus hubs are available in Boost spacing only and feature a 6-bolt rotor interface.
