WATERLOO, Wis. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle is releasing a new generation of its Domane SLR road bike, which has already been raced by Fabian Cancellara, who won the Strade Bianche race on the new model.
The new version of the Domane, which was first introduced in 2012, includes an adjustable rear IsoSpeed decoupler as well as a front decoupler and a new vibration-damping handlebar.
The rear adjustment is done via a slider behind the seattube. In its lowest setting, the frames' vertical compliance is 14 percent greater than the original Domane.
The Front IsoSpeed decoupler allows the steerer tube to flex independently from the head tube; Trek said it increases vertical compliance of the front of the bike by 10 percent compared to a traditional road bike.
The new Bontrager IsoCore handlebar is constructed with a continuous inner layer of a specialized thermoplastic elastomer encased in Trek’s proprietary OCLV carbon fiber. Trek said it improves damping of high-frequency vibration with a reduction of vibration by 20 percent over standard carbon handlebars.
The Domane SLR is available in caliper and disc brake models, both with enhanced tire clearance, accepting up to 28c tires on Domane SLR and 32c tires on Domane SLR Disc while still meeting CPSC and ISO clearance standards.
The caliper Domane SLR features lightweight direct mount brakes while the disc-equipped bikes use 12mm thru axles. Both versions include hidden fender mounts.
The Domane SLR also is equipped with Domane Control Center, a feature borrowed from the Trek Madone. It allows use of an internal Di2 battery just under the downtube water bottle cage.
The Domane SLR lineup is as follows:
