Published July 7, 2015

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Giro Sport Design has announced a version of its top-end road helmet, the Synthe, with MIPS technology. The new Synthe MIPS is being used by several teams in this year's Tour de France, and Giro made a special yellow version of the helmet available to BMC Racing's Rohan Dennis, who took the race lead after the opening time trial.

The Synthe MIPS balances aerodynamics, lightweight and cooling. The new model will be available next month, retailing for $270.

"The Synthe MIPS is a testament to the energy and resources that we put into helmet design. By combining our advanced research and design capabilities, as well as our close association with MIPS Technologies, we continue to pursue new ideas that can give riders what they demand," said Giro's marketing manager Amanda Schaper. "We've taken our greatest lessons that we've learned in Giro's 30-year history wrapped up into one extraordinary helmet. And it is so rewarding to see it embraced by three different teams at the Tour."

The Synthe MIPS weighs 260 grams in size Medium and offers a fully adjustable fit system, adjustable strapping and dedicated ports for securely docking sunglasses.
