ROSSANO VENETO, Italy (BRAIN) — Selle San Marco has adopted a Minimum Advertised Price policy for 2014 and said it will sell only to authorized distributors and retailers.
"Websites and retailers who sell only on the basis of cheap price negatively impact the brand image of Selle San Marco," said San Marco COO Giovanni Girard. "It's a race to the bottom that diminishes the brand and ultimately hurts San Marco and everyone else in the distribution chain."
Unless otherwise stated, Selle San Marco has established 2014 Minimum Advertised Prices at 15 percent below its suggested retail price.
"This gives San Marco authorized retailers the flexibility to advertise discounts as necessary while still protecting the worldwide image of San Marco," the company said.
As with most MAP policies, the minimum applies only to advertised prices and does not apply to the price at which retailers actually sell San Marco-branded products.
