Published January 17, 2013

VICENZA, Italy (BRAIN) — Bianchi is buying Italian parts and accessories distributor Alpen By Verza Srl, the company announced Thursday. Alpen By Verza has been operating for more than 30 years.

Bianchi said the purchase was an offshoot of a new strategy to invest in its parts and accessories business.

The purchase, completed on Jan. 15, will result in the creation of a new firm called Alpen Srl, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiv Edoardo Bianchi SpA.

The new company will continue with the distribution of all products previously handled by Alpen By Verza Srl, including the brands Velomann and Ap1. The company also said it will invest in developing new products.

“With the creation of Alpen Srl we will be able to provide our customers with a wider range of P&A options and further strengthen our presence in the marketplace,” said Bianchi CEO Bob Ippolito.

The new company will absorb the current work force of Alpen By Verza Srl and will continue to operate in its current headquarters in Vicenza.
