TAICHUNG, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Taiwanese manufacturer JD Group will show a new electric bike motor targeted at North American bike makers at next month's Taichung Bike Week, a major original equipment spec' event.

JD Group will show two motor models marketed under its TranzX brand. The company has been selling in the European market since 2007, but each of the two new models was designed with the U.S. market in mind.

"With economic and environmental considerations in North America in increasing alignment with the European, we see the U.S. market as the next horizon, with excellent growth potential," said Johnson Cho, the company's CEO. "We are now ready to cross the ocean with a powerful entry product to captivate this vast and lucrative market."

The TranzX motors for the U.S. market have handlebar throttles and 30 percent increased power compared to motors for the European market. One model has 500 watts and a second has 400 watts. The drive system components are integrated with the frame for improved aesthetics.

Taichung Bike Week will be held from November 13-16.
