WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — An Administrative Law Judge issued an initial finding that a Chinese company violated federal law by importing and selling cameras that infringed on GoPro's intellectual property.
The judge with the International Trade Commission determined that Insta360 infringed on the patent for GoPro's HERO camera design as well as its validation of multiple patent claims for its HyperSmooth video stabilization.
"GoPro welcomes fair competition as it drives us to innovate, but we will litigate to protect our IP when we believe it is being infringed," said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro founder and CEO. "We have been an American innovator and market leader for 23 years, and we will not sit idle while we believe others unjustly take advantage of our hard work, investment and innovation."
GoPro intends to raise other issues in its case against Insta360 with the full ITC, which is expected to rule on all of the infringement claims by Nov. 10.
