WESTPORT, Conn. (BRAIN) — Fifteen years after acquiring the juvenile products brand Ergobaby, Compass Diversified Holdings has sold the brand to Highlander Partners, a Dallas-based private investment firm.
Compass owns — and has owned — several major brands in the bike industry. It currently owns BOA, PrimaLoft and Lizardskins, which makes bike grips and tape. Compass is the previous owner of CamelBak and Fox Factory, among other brands.
Compass bought the baby carrier brand from its founder in 2010 for $91 million. Ergobaby had sales of $93.9 million in its fiscal 2023 according to Compass filings.
Compass, which owned 82% of the shares of Ergobaby, received about $99.1 million in proceeds at closing, which valued Ergobaby at an enterprise value of $104 million.
“We are proud of Ergobaby’s position as a global leader in premium juvenile products and are grateful for Jason and the team’s contributions over the years,” said Elias Sabo, CEO of Compass Diversified. “Looking ahead, we plan to use the proceeds from this sale to continue to acquire and manage innovative and disruptive brands, positioning our business for continued success and driving long-term shareholder value.”
Compass is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the CODI symbol. Highlander Partners has $3 billion in assets under management. Its portfolio includes brands in a variety of industries.
