JBI back online in limited capacity after ransomware attack

Published April 7, 2021

MIAMI (BRAIN) — Global wholesale distributor JBI was back online in a limited capacity Wednesday after a ransomware attack last week shut down its website.

A spokesperson told BRAIN on Wednesday afternoon that JBI was taking orders again but shipping delays might occur because of backlogged orders. JBI has 11 warehouses and not all of them have resumed full operations. The Miami warehouse is among those operating again.

The attack, which occurred April 1, is still being investigated. JBI said then that none of its customers' business information was affected.

KHS suffered a similar ransomware attack in February 2020. The California-based distributor was shut down for about a day and half and fully recovered after about two weeks. The company installed bigger servers, a stronger firewall, more secure server software, stronger passwords, and new backup protocols that could be reinstalled more quickly.
