BREVARD, N.C. (BRAIN) — Colorado-based brewer Oskar Blues is opening a mountain bike destination in Western North Carolina, where the company opened its second brewery in 2012. The brewer has purchased a 145-acre farm where it will operate a bike park and a performance space.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Bixbi bikes is launching a new line of 12-inch-wheel balance bikes for summer 2014.

The Route 12 bikes are available in five colors and weigh 7.4 pounds. MSRP is $210.

The frames feature slip-proof dropouts, 6061 aluminium tubing and a double-triangle geometry.

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — CycleOps is running a contest that encourages cyclists to record outdoor training routes that can be replicated indoors on the company's Virtual Training system.

The contest will award prizes valued at more than $10,000 for the best recorded routes, as judged by CycleOps staff.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (BRAIN) — Market research firm The Gluskin Townley Group is working with the road bike enthusiast website RedKitePrayer.com to create a new research panel called the "Voice of the Adult Cycling Enthusiast."

The panel will help researchers understand upper-end roadies.
