Update: Affected distributor ‘surprised and disappointed’ at decision.

CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM announced Friday that it will reduce the number of distributors selling its components effective May 23, eliminating Olympic Supply Co., Hans Johnsen Co., Downeast Bicycle Specialists, Wilson and Action Bicycle. Hans Johnsen owns both Downeast and Wilson.

DENVER (BRAIN) — Rudy Project has signed on with the Toughman Half Triathlon Series as official helmet and sunglass sponsor. The 10-race series travels across the U.S., challenging athletes of all abilities with a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run.

SILVER CITY, N.M. (BRAIN) — Race directors of the Tour of the Gila are putting out the call for angel sponsors after the 28-year-old stage race’s title sponsor pulled its investment early this week. If new sponsors don’t emerge, the April 29 race in Silver City, N.M., may have to be canceled, organizers added.
