BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (BRAIN) — QBP has hired Nick Ludwig as its OEM sales manager. Ludwig comes to QBP from SRAM, where he was an OEM account manager for QBP's bike brands, as well as for Trek, Marin and a host of others.
OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — Shimano on Tuesday reported its second consecutive quarterly year-over-year revenue decline in its bike segment, as it announced that net sales were down 20 percent in the first quarter of 2016. The company's operating income also was down, 30.7 percent.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Tern is expanding its recall of some folding bikes. The recall, first announced in May 2013 covering about 175 bikes, has now been expanded to cover an additional 220 bikes, which were sold as recently as this month. The affected frames can break at the hinge on the toptube.
FORT WORTH, Texas (BRAIN) — RPM2 is offering its footbed based power meter for $399, making it one of the lowest-priced power meters on the market. The price is available to the 500 customers to buy the meter from the brand's website using a discount code.

HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (BRAIN) — Accell Group said it recorded higher turnover and profit in the first quarter of this year compared to last year due to higher demand for higher priced e-bikes and sport bikes.
WATERLOO, Wis. (BRAIN) — A Trek spokesman said the company was "just as surprised as anybody else" to see its mountain bikes on the Sam's Club website recently. A Sam's Club spokesperson said the bikes were sourced from legitimate channels.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (BRAIN) — Performance Bicycle is offering a $20 discount and a free bike inspection to customers with Sport Chalet loyalty cards.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (BRAIN) — USA Cycling has hired Kelly Reyes as the organization's new vice president of membership, a new position that oversees the membership department.
