BONNER, Mont. (BRAIN) — Coaster Cycles, a Montana-based manufacturer of pedicabs and other pedal-powered utility vehicles, is now making a pedal-powered mobile repair trike for Motivate, the U.S.'s largest bike share operator.
The Mobile Mechanic Bike is equipped with custom toolboxes, a transport area for parts and other materials, an integrated workstand and a magnetic tool holder, among other features. The three-wheeler has an electric-assist motor.
The trike will allow Motivate to repair its share bikes in the field, eliminating the need to move bikes back to a service center in a van.
"Coaster Cycles' partnership with Motivate showcases our mutual dedication to innovation, sustainable transportation, and increasing access to micro-transit," said Ben Morris, the CEO of Coaster Cycles. "Our mission is to move markets, products and people on three wheels, going where other vehicles cannot.
"The Mobile Mechanic Bike helps remove gas-powered vehicles, reduce congestion in cities, and increase Motivate's ability to service bikes. Coaster's trikes will make an eco-friendly company even greener."
The trike is also available to other customers. It starts at $5,700 with no lighting and no motor-assist. With a motor and lighting it starts at $7,980. Volume discounts are available starting with orders of five units or more.
