Easton and Race Face release their first dropper posts

Published August 14, 2015

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Easton Cycling and Race Face, each now owned by Fox Factory, have each launched their first dropper posts.

The Easton Haven and Race Face Turbine are nearly identical aside from finish and graphics. Their handlebar levers also have different shapes and Race Face is offering its lever in four colors, while Easton's is offered only in black.

Craig Richey, Easton Cycling's director of marketing, said the posts are the first collaboration between Easton and Race Face.

"We played to the strengths of both engineering teams and created an amazing product that will represent both brands well ... The current dropper post offerings have a number of limitations, the biggest of which is reliability, required servicing, and temperature sensitivity. ... We expect our post to be extremely reliable with no servicing required and the ability to work in below-freezing temperatures."

The posts use DropLoc technology licensed from 9point8 of Ancaster, Ontario, which enables infinite adjustment of the height of the seatpost through an internal mechanical brake.

Both posts are made for internal cable routing and feature a new patented design that combines mechanical and hydraulic locking technologies.

The posts offer infinite height adjustment within their stroke, a quick cable connector for easy removal, left- or right-mount levers that use standard shifter cables and casing and a zero-setback two-bolt post head.

The posts will be available in 350, 375, 415 and 440mm lengths, travel of 100, 125 or 150mm and diameters of 30.9 or 31.6.

They will retail for $469 and be available in November.
