LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — The final Electric Bike Expo of 2016 opens Friday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif. But organizers are already looking ahead to 2017, when the consumer bike demo and festival will host eight events, starting in Southern California and ending in Miami.
The Expos are three-day events where consumers can test ride dozens of electric bikes from many brands for free. The nonprofit association that runs them, the Electric Bike Association, also operates The Circuit — the indoor e-bike test track at Interbike.
The Santa Monica event is expected to push the combined 2016 consumer attendance over the 10,000 mark for the eight events that took place this year.
Situated on the big parking lot next to the Santa Monica Pier, the Expo will run from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.
Bosch and Trek are returning as the top Expo sponsors for 2017, while Tempo is returning as charity sponsor, association director Ray Verhelst said.
The 2017 tour will host Expos in different cities every month, with the exception of January; April because of Sea Otter; September because of Interbike; and December.
