Verge Sport buys Sommerville Sports

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (BRAIN) — Custom clothing brand Verge Sport   has purchased Sommerville Sports, another New York-based brand.

“It’s a strategic alliance,” said Sommerville Sports founder David Sommerville “After building our brand over the last decade here in Brooklyn, all of us at Sommerville Sports are delighted to join forces with Verge in order to provide the world’s best bicycle clothing, latest technology and service.”

Verge's founder, Mike Magur said, “David is the perfect choice to be our new director of custom nationally and to serve as director of technology globally. Verge is now increasing the speed and precision with which we serve all our customers. Forget all the old methods for getting custom bicycle clothes because the market and the world have changed and we are on the forefront.”

Jed Kornbluh, who will become national sales manager at Verge, said, “We will implement new technologies such as online ordering and design followed by speedy turnarounds, top-notch quality with hyper- competitive budgeting and truly great customer service.”

Verge said it is looking globally while merging and growing locally. All the technology, well-respected patterns, fabrics and higher end customizations that that has helped Sommerville Sports grow will be enhanced and combined Verge current offerings and delivered to all existing and new customers seamlessly, the company said.

Offices in New York City and Newburgh will continue to include direct sales and online customer support from both company’s staff.
