SEATTLE (BRAIN) — Commuters pedaling to work in Seattle, San Diego and Austin, Texas, on Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 16, can enjoy free electrolyte drinks provided by Nuun. Hydration stations will be set up throughout these cities at major bike traffic intersections where cyclists can sample Nuun’s various flavors and refill their water bottles during their morning commute.
“We’ll be hydrating and cheering on commuters to make the commute fun” said Kevin Rutherford, president of Nuun Hydration. “The more people that realize how enjoyable it is to bike to work, the fewer cars there will be on the road. This aligns with our mission to get more people moving.”
In Seattle, Nuun’s home base, the company will also host a street party on Bike to Work Day. Festivities will include a DJ, frozen fruit treats from Nuun’s Icycle Tricyle and cycling-oriented sidewalk art with fun sayings like “Win your commute,” “Stay hydrated” and “Get that KOM.” Employees at Nuun’s headquarters will help out at the hydration stations, which will be set up and run by Seattle’s Cascade Bicycle Club.
“Nuun has been a fantastic partner for the Cascade Bicycle Club and our Bike Month activities,” said Anna Telensky, events and sponsorship manager for Cascade. “We're really excited to have them hydrating riders at a number of our Commute Stations around the city this Friday.”
While Nuun has supported Bike to Work Day in Seattle for several years, this is the first year the company will provide hydration in other cities.
