BOSTON, Mass. (BRAIN) — BMC is moving its U.S. subsidiary from Boston to San Diego, and expects to be up and running in the new building the first week of March. With the move, it will gain additional space and also consolidate two separate locations — its Boston office for BMC and its San Francisco office and warehouse for Stromer.
The new building — close to Competitor Group Inc.'s headquarters — provides nearly 10,000 square feet of space. About half of that will serve as a warehouse for Stromer e-bikes, also owned by BMC Switzerland. The remainder will be office space and a showroom for its BMC and Stromer bike lines.
Chris McLaren, general manager for the Swiss brand's U.S. subsidiary, has been busy since the start of the year setting up the new space. He said some of the existing employees will relocate from the two offices to San Diego, but he anticipates hiring additional staff in the coming weeks.
"To be able to manage everything all in one place is a huge benefit," McLaren said. "We already have a remote sales force. Having all of our inside staff in one location will enable us to be more efficient and better serve our customers."
BMC's new San Diego office handles sales, marketing, customer service, financing and warranties for the U.S. market. BMC bikes will continue to be shipped by a third-party warehouse in Chicago.
BMC's new address is 9240 Trade Place, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92126.
