LAGUNA HILLS, CA (BRAIN)—Jeff Schumacher, formerly Sports Authority's chief marketing officer, "has resigned from The Sports Authority," the company said in a brief statement.

"After leading several important and successful initiatives for the company, including the exciting new partnership with the Denver Broncos, Jeff plans to pursue new interests in his career," said the statement. "We thank him for his contributions to the company and wish him the best in the future. Darrell Webb remains our interim CEO and continues to lead the company in a positive direction."

As reported, Sports Authority on August 23 said that Campisi, who had been with the company since 2004, had resigned as CEO and president. He was named CEO and president in 2010. The company said Darrell Webb had been named the interim chief executive officer of the company. Webb is the chairman and chief executive officer of Jo-Ann Stores.

Schumacher joined Sports Authority in November 2009 to oversee all Sports Authority's marketing, advertising, private brand strategy, digital/eCommerce, corporate and business development strategy. Schumacher had previously served as a partner in McKinsey & Company's North American Marketing and Sales Practice.
