“Google ‘moon hoax,’ ‘cause if people believe he had a motorized bike they may as well know the truth about the moon landing.”
—Simon Whitfield, Olympic triathlon champion, in a tweet response to claims that Swiss cycling star Fabian Cancellara (pictured) may have had a motor inside his bike frame when he won the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix this season.
A YouTube video (click on link) made by Michele Bufalino of VideoNews TV in Italy was also creating quite a stir. It combined former racer turned commentator Davide Cassani’s video (showing a motorized bike on Italian TV) with an explanation of the technology that could be involved and footage from Cancellara’s races to indicate where he could have benefitted from such a nefarious setup.
