Hermes to Distribute Carbon Products

Published January 24, 2010

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN)—Hermes Sport has opened its doors as a new distributor of carbon fiber bicycle components.

Its mission is to give traditional bike shops a means of competing against online, direct-sales outlets in the carbon fiber road bike wheel market.

The company's new wheelset can now be found in stores throughout Southern California. Graphic-less prototypes have been raced to victory earlier this year by professional racer Daniel Ramsey, and with extensive testing and input the production iteration has reached the market. The version now being sold is a 50-millimeter deep-profile wheelset with full carbon rims. It's available in both clincher ($1,225) and tubular ($1,050) versions.

“Ultimately we must stick to our guns; we have a product here that I can personally stand behind 100 percent," said owner Alex Webster. "We are steadfast in our commitment to maintaining good working relationships both with our overseas suppliers, our dealers, and ultimately with the end users who purchase our products.”

The company hopes to rapidly expand its dealer base and retail presence in the coming months, as well as its repertoire of bicycle components.
